    Dreamworks + CGI

    Dreamworks Goes Toon Crazy

Animated News reports that whilst Disney animation may have gone the way of the dodo, Spielberg's Dreamworks studio has no less than five animation-related projects on its development slate despite mixed success to their assorted films in the genre. On top of "Shrek 3" and "Shark Tale 2", there's:

    Master P: Kung Fu Panda
"The film, based on an original pitch from writers Cyrus Voris and Ethan Reiff, will be produced at Pacific Data Images, and tells the story of a kung fu-fighting panda who battles against a gang of snow leopard bandits that have come down from the highlands to invade the bamboo jungle".

    Space Monkeys
"Set in the 1950s, centers on a team of monkeys involved in the NASA space program. Surprisingly, it was pitched by Ash Brannon, formerly of Pixar, who may also be on board to direct".

    Chicken Run 2
"DreamWorks also registered a domain in the name of Chicken Run 2. Again, no real details on this yet, so it could mean anything - but are the team at Aardman looking to return to Tweedy country after completing the Wallace and Gromit movie The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit"

Other rumoured projects in the works include "Mike of Arabia", "Giant Gingy" & "Rex Havoc and the Atomics". Sadly two other projects look to have been cancelled:

    The Shadow Project
"A mix of live-action and CG, about an evil force who upsets the balance between the intersection of human and shadow worlds, and the shadow who drags his human counterpart into the shadow realm to set things right".

    Toad Trip
"A Shrek-esque tale of a human turned into a toad, with John H. Williams again to produce this live action/CGI hybrid"
    From Dark Horizons
"A celibate clergy is an especially good idea, because it tends to suppress any hereditary propensity toward fanaticism." / Carl Sagan
