Not my favorite director, but that was a major drop in form.

    Steven Soderbergh - Solaris

    Stanley Kubrick - Barry Lyndon
Alfred Hitchcock - The Trouble With Harry
François Truffaut - Two English Girls (to-date: I haven't seen all of his films, and I may chance my mind when revisiting it.)
    Yasujiro Ozu - Early Spring
    John Woo - yep, Windtalkers
    Wong Kar-Wai - Fallen Angels/Happy Together (couldn't decide. But it doesn't mean they're bad)
    Paul Verhoeven - Showgirls
    Chris Columbis - Stepmom

Panic Room, it's not that it's a bad film but rather that it's an excellent opening followed by a mediocre film. When Foster and her daughter are in their beds and the thieves are entering, that was tense, dripping in claustrophobia and was some of the best film making of the year. However once they locked themselves into the small confined space they somehow killed the claustrophobia. Foster and her daughter were locked up in a room where even though they were cut off from contacting help, the bad guys had no chance in hell of opening the door. They couldn't get in, and well they were so obviously dumber than Foster, a character who was pretty thick herself, that even their plans never presented any danger. Compared to Finchers other work it was very sub par.

My favorite directors don't have bad movies, David Lynch, and Tom Tykwer (for now)
But Matrix Revelotion! is a failure by wachawski brothers
Cold Mountain, and Mr. Wonderfull by Anthony Minghella...
Panic Room is my least favorite Fincher movie (but i still haven't scene the ending)
worst recent movies i've seen though are Solaris, and the Order
