If you read Patrick Süskind's book and if you loved Tom Tykwer's Run Lola Run,
I bet you can't wait to watch this film.

Exclamation Perfume. The Story of a Murderer

Only to comment that yesterday I watched this movie on DVD and that I am really astonished. Years ago, I started to read Süskind book but never ended it, reading less than the third part of it.

For me is a very good movie and I want to point out that this film can give some light, I think, of the social environment surrounding events like supposed Virgin Mary apparitions in places like Fatima (Portugal) and Lourdes (France) and UFO sightings and, even, of the phenomena itself.

I have read the book and have not yet seen the movie, but I can't make that connection. In my opinion, as I recall the book, is it all about the social upbringing of the boy and the status of the use of perfume by the rich and famous of that time. Somewhere along the line things went wrong with the boy. That the Curch plays a leading role as for morality I agree. But UFO's?

Post Perfume. The Story of a Murderer... and UFOs

Yes, UFOs

Some of the best UFO investigators, if you can accept that, have reached a thought: UFOs behave like dreams or ghosts. You should know, (spoilers) as in the movie is represented, that under determinate conditions, a person can project over others an illusion (like the boy in the movie make the others see him as a member of nobility, or prince or something [I believe that was what he did]). The guy made the others behave as he wanted.

Then the same happens with UFOs. It is believed that some sightings were projected against the witnesses. This also explains why such observations seems to be staged, or to be acted, because the intelligence on it wants to simulate an extraterrestrial thing.

Once it was said about UFOs:

Quote:
What we would see if we could be there with the UFO witnesses?
Because UFO witnesses are reporting what they believe they have seen, but investigations seems to point that they had another kind of experience and the memory of the true experience was deleted and substituted with the UFO story, which will result in incredulity against the witnesses in their social environment and the result of it all will be the reduction of the witnesses... but the "UFO" activity will continue in silence...

I don't know if it is now clear the link I can see between Perfume. The Story of a Murderer and UFOs and supposed Virgin Mary apparitions...

I rather think it is wishfull thinking those UFO investigators have come up with.
"If you can't prove it, pose some uncatchable theory and start believing in it".
The human brain and what happens with it during sleep and the unconcious phase is still one of our biggest mysteries. Putting a hypothesis and base it on what still is a mystery is not a good idea and can never be proved since the whole foundation of the hypotesis has not been proved.

No it's not clear to me. I'm afraid the books of Von Däniken and The Da Vinci Code caught your imagination.

There's nothing wrong with man's imagination as long as in real life you can stay with both feet on the ground. Don't mix fact with fiction in real life.
You can only do that in books and movies.
