Anyway, did a bit of research. Apparently IGN used to host a teaser of this indie(?) flick... like two years ago (!?) But it's now offline cos...

[NOTE: Teaser removed at filmmaker's request]
And there seems to be nothing on the official site except production stills.

But then, comes the Google search...

Yes, I know it was the original release date. It's also the name of a great film coming out.

I guess I wasn't specific enough in my original post. I was wondering why Movie-List didn't have a link to this trailer. I have it here:

    Merged with the old thread.

A link to the higher res version of the trailer j7wild posted is already posted above, but the links are now all broken.

    The Film

'77 (Formely Titled 5-25-77) is the mostly-autobiographical tale of young Pat Johnson, a movie geek stuck in the small town of Wadsworth, Illinois in the late 70s. The obvious significance of the film's title date is that it was the day that Star Wars debuted in theaters around the US. The story is a coming-of-age tale about following your dreams. The narrative revolves around Pat's quest to make it to a showing of Star Wars on its opening day. The odds are stacked against Pat, as he must overcome a series of outlandish events that stand in his way. The challenges are often amusing, and seemingly impossible, but it's important to note that they actually occurred in the young writer's life. The film opens with the following clever disclaimer: Most of this is true. The rest is even truer.

It never did get fully released, looks like there were some Limited Showings for promotional purposes, but nothing more until this showed up today.

    Source FirstShowing.net

They state their source as the Official Site, but I could'nt find it there myself.

77 is both written and directed by Patrick Read Johnson, the very same filmmaker that the movie is about, who previously directed Spaced Invaders, Baby's Day Out, Angus, and is credited for the story on Dragonheart. The film doesn't have a distributor or a release date yet, so we're not sure when or where it'll debut, although it could be at Fantastic Fest. Stay tuned for updates on 77 as they arrive!
