The highest resolution of the Red-Band trailer I've been able to find online is as follows:

123 MB, 1280 x 546, 23.98 fps (MP3 audio @ 44.1 KHz)

I don't know about playing this by renaming it to end with ".mpg", as it is a Flash Video file that should simply play when opened in any Web browser - it is NOT an actual MPEG file. On the Mac, I know you can play it natively in QuickTime Player if you have Perian installed.
