Exclamation The Next Comic Book Adaptation - Watchmen?

"Hellboy" came in at No. 1, which means the producers of that film are busy getting another comic book adaptation to the big screen. "We're going to do 'The Watchmen,'" says producer Lloyd Levin. "It's about a group of superheroes who reunite to figure out who is trying to kill them off." No, it's not Batman, Robin and Wonder Woman. "It's different characters, but it's really a unique story because it deals with the spiritual aspect of being a superhero," he says.

Watchmen is by many considered THE best comic book ever made. Its a 12 issue miniseries, but its story is really big and complex. Its written by Alan Moore, without a doubt one of the best writers in the comic industy.
The title comes "Who watches the Watchmen". The story if full of ex-superheroes who all of them have dark secrets, and most of them arent good persons. Its kind of a story about what happens when the Watchmen (in this case the superheroes) goes out of controll.
Its hardly "the bottom of the barrel", But i doubt that they can pull of a good movie of it. But im all for it. If nothing else then to spread the word about the comic to a wider audience.

    From DC Comic.com
It all begins with the paranoid delusions of a half-insane hero called Rorschach. But is Rorschach really insane or has he in fact uncovered a plot to murder super-heroes and, even worse, millions of innocent civilians? On the run from the law, Rorschach reunites with his former teammates in a desperate attempt to save the world and their lives, but what they uncover will shock them to their very core and change the face of the planet! Following two generations of masked superheroes from the close of World War II to the icy shadow of the Cold War comes this groundbreaking comic story — the story of The Watchmen.

That's what I meant by the phrase. They're dipping into the barrel and sees what comes out. With something this complex, I doubt they could pull it off.

    Thumbs up

I'm hoping they come up with Hell Boy II instead of whole new character... i totally fell in love with hell boy. They already have a character so they just need a strong story. if they want to do complex why not do it with something that is already there???!?!?!?

I would love nothing more than for them to do Watchmen, but they would need topay EXTREME attention to detail, due to the cult status of the books.

She's just too pretty for Hollywood. I don't know, put her in a glass box and display her at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or something. - Jake on the topic of Scarlett Johansson.

Only reason that the series flopped is because it didn't have enough funding. It looked cheap! Needed better promotion.

I am planing on reading Watchmen I had gotten it a while back and haven't had a chance to read it yet but I will hopefully soon.
I remember they were going to do it as a TV mini series first then it became a film idea.

Actually that was the orginal plain, There was going to be a Witchblade movie but from what I heard there was studio problems as well as well as money problems so in the end it was developed as a TV series. also for more Witchblade goodness wait until the Anime series is released on DVD, but if you can't wait you can probably aquire it by other means

Zack Snyder is gonna direct it and since everyone loves 300 yet, it will quickly begin pre-production fast I believe (some has already begun, yet its just beginning). Since Snyder already has NEXT movie in plan, I believe this will start shooting quite quickly - maybe even in first half of tis year.

Not everyone loves 300, but OK, most of us, people

I think they will start with production later in this year. This must be really big production.
