    Studios reveal current '08 Scifi/fantasy slateslate

    The Walt Disney Co. unveiled its slate for 2008, with release dates for several upcoming SF&F movies.

    As previously reported, the upcoming sequel film The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian opens May 16.

    Disney and its animation partner Pixar have staked out June 27 for WALL*E, its animated SF movie about a lonely robot.

    Also opening in 2008: The animal fantasy South of the Border (fall), the animated Bolt (Nov. 26) and the Adam Sandler family fantasy Bedtime Stories (Christmas Day).
    Twentieth Century Fox has announced 2008 release dates for its upcoming slate of SF&F movies, including Jumper, opening on Feb. 14.

    A month later, on March 14, Fox will release Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! A week later, on March 21, the studio premieres Shutter, a supernatural horror movie.

    Starship Dave, starring Eddie Murphy, opens May 30. M. Night Shyamalan's next movie, The Happening, unspools on June 13. And Vin Diesel's SF epic Babylon A.D. hits screens on Aug. 29.

    Universal and Warner Slates

    Universal Pictures unveiled its 2008 slate of SF&F movies, starting with the sequel film The Incredible Hulk on June 13.

    Two weeks later, on June 27, Universal will release Wanted, a tech thriller based on a comic book and directed by Russian Night Watch helmer Timur Bekmambetov.

    On July 11 comes Guillermo del Toro's sequel film Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

    The following month brings another sequel, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, debuting on Aug. 1.

    Fall brings Death Race, a remake of John Carpenter's classic SF movie, on Sept. 26. The animated family fantasy film The Tale of Despereaux comes out on Dec. 19.

    Still awaiting a release date is the SF epidemic movie Doomsday.
    Warner Brothers announced release dates for its upcoming 2008 slate of movies, including the highly anticipated The Dark Knight, Speed Racer and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

    The year kicks off with the supernatural thriller One Missed Call on Jan. 4.

    On March 7, the studio releases 10,000 B.C., from director Roland Emmerich.

    Speed Racer, the Wachowski brothers' live-action update of the Japanese anime TV show, drops on May 9. Get Smart, starring Steve Carell, opens June 20.

    The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan's follow-up to his hit Batman Begins, debuts on July 18.

    The sixth Harry Potter movie, The Half-Blood Prince, opens on Nov. 21.
    Looks like Warner will get the most money!

    Paramount Slate

    Paramount Pictures announced a full slate of SF&F movies for 2008, including the much-anticipated Star Trek update and the fourth Indiana Jones movie.

    The year begins on Jan. 18 with Cloverfield, the mysterious monster movie from producer J.J. Abrams.

    On Feb. 15, The Spiderwick Chronicles debuts, a family fantasy based on the children's books.

    The horror film The Ruins, based on the book, opens April 11.

    Jon Favreau's hotly anticipated Iron Man, the hit of last year's Comic-Con, unspools on May 2.

    May 22 brings the long-awaited Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, reuniting director Steven Spielberg and star Harrison Ford.

    The animated spoof Kung Fu Panda premieres on June 6. Sept. 26 brings the family fantasy Nowhereland, and the supernatural comedy Ghost Town, starring Ricky Gervais, awaits a fall release date.

    The animated sequel film Madagascar: The Crate Escape opens on Nov. 7.

    Thanksgiving brings the classic fantasy film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Nov. 26), and Christmas Day marks the premiere of Abrams' new Star Trek.

    Still awaiting a release date is the supernatural horror film A Tale of Two Sisters.
