I guess they figure no one would be able to read it at the movie theater or on VHS since it was only a 5 second shot;

but look at the screenshot I took, the 2 parts circled in red pertains to the story of the movie, the rest has nothing to do with the movie.

the movie is about Police Corruption in New York City in the 70s.

The part of the newspaper article circled in red pertains to the story of the movie; the rest is just thrown in - it totally has nothing to do with the story of the movie.

The film producers figured since it's only a 5 second shot of the newspaper, no one would be able to read it.

So they could make the rest of it up!
