Onimusha is coming to the big screen!

May 21, 2003 - Capcom's best-selling video game, Onimusha, is being made into a $50 million live-action motion picture, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The trade scoops that Samuel Hadida's Davis Films has hooked up with Gaga Productions to bring the fighting game franchise to the big screen.

Hadida says, "It's samurai fighting against demons – it's very close to this simple pitch. There's also a love story woven in. It's a big adventure movie with lots of special effects."

THR reports that the film will be set in 16th century Japan. Warlords are using dark forces to rule over the country, when a young warrior rises up against them.

With multiple sequels (a third game in the franchise is due out soon), Onimusha could easily become a film franchise. Hadida says, "It's going to be a franchise, absolutely."

i played the game seen the game but why make it in to a movie
