    Howl's Moving Castle

Hauru no ugoku shiro (Howl's Moving Castle) is another movie made by Hayao Miyazaki (Spirited Away) which is now in Pre Production and will be released next year. Not much info on the movie but here is a short 20 sec teaser on it.

Grrrrr... why did they encoded it in some weird-a** codec?

Hmmm... Haven't seen the teaser (cos the codec), but I do have high hopes for Howl's Moving Castle - it may even top Laputa to become my favourite Mayazaki movie of all time... Then again it may not (and indeed I hope not).

The Teaser uses normal DivX codecs. Get DivX from www.divx.com if you are having problems.

nothing unusual here. its XviD codec. DL program like GPspot & see which codec is used in file (see attach pic file what it looks like)...

Either way. Depends what codec u have installed on your system. For me, DivX is installed so DivX is being used to encode the file.

I have DiVX player 2.5 installed on my work computer. It gave me an error message 'This file contains unknown video data'.

I may try on my home computer and see if it works somehow.

The point is: is it worthy about all to install some weird codec just to watch one teaser (like the other time bender posts some QT trailers encoded with those weird codecs)?

DivX and Xvid (open source alternative to DivX) are very well spread and received standard video codecs by now. Not for trailers though.

    preview looks cool.

The latest version of DivX should play Xvid with no problem.
