Looks like Apple is on a rampage to stop Hotlinking and trailer downloading, they want the hits, and to sell PRO. Several sites which specialized in Apple Posts still have not figured out how to get around the latest changes, and one of the reasons appears to be that they are still at it......, meaning they are still implementing changes, but that's only my opinion.
Anyway, I did get through a couple of times with Orbit, took a while and quite a few refreshes, but it painfully worked so I dont know if it was a fluke or not ( I dont use Orbit much).
Unfortunately, I am fresh out of Free alternatives, as per the previous post, going PRO is one solution, but I would'nt give Apple my money if my life depended on it.
Someone will get around it at some point, they always do.
I can't see through walls, but I can kick your ass.

I use "Free Download Manager" and it works fine for me.
Take the normal directlink "http://movies.apple.com/movies/xxx_hxxxp.mov" and then change the protocol to "QuickTime/7.6.2".

I use QuickTime Pro, it's easier this way.

OK, so it appears that the fix to the Apple DL problem is going back to using the 'User Agent Change' process which I posted in my previous posts.
So what you are saying is that 'Free Download Manager' has it implemented in their software, instead of having to run a browser add-on.
If that's correct, then here you go, a painless free solution for everyone.
Well until time Apple changes it again.

"Free Download Manager" is a stand-alone-tool, not a a browser add-on. But you can use it with a browser and connect them.
No, it is not implemented in their software. You must change it by yourself, but only once. Changing is simple: copy and paste "QuickTime/7.6.2" in the relevant field.

News from DavesTrailerPage:
19th Oct: Over the weekend a very helpful reader pointed out that Apple links are once again working without the user-agent change when using the old url modification. I've changed all the links again so what that means in basic terms is all the trailers on the site now work no matter how you are downloading them.

Ever since the Avatar teaser was released I've been having problems downloading apple trailers, they always come up like broken links.
For a while this was fixed easily by replacing movies.apple.com with www.apple.com in the links but this doesn't seem to work anymore.
Can anybody help me with this? is everybody having the same issues? If they change the encryption method, can anybody tell me how to get the direct links now?
Any help is greatly appreciated.snootch to the noonch!

Need Confirmation
Here we go, Apple strikes again........
Can anyone confirm if the workaround works or have they closed the loophole this time?
-
I don't think the user-agent trick can be 'worked around'.
All they can do is change the name...
Say, from "QuickTime/7.6.2" to "Quicktime/7.6.3", but that would mean older versions of Quicktime would no longer be able to stream.
