Why your avatar?
This has probably been done before, but I searched for it and couldn't find it, so I figured I would start it up.
I was just wondering why some of you chose the avatar (the little graphic on the side of your posts) that you did?
Mine goes back a couple of years. I have always liked raccoons, and when I redesigned my website back in 2000, I came up with this raccoon to be my mascot. When I discovered I could create my own avatar on this forum, I simply resized my logo to be used here.
In case you hadn't noticed, the raccoon head is placed over what appear to be two part circles, one wider than the other, one green, one teal. The circles aren't complete, though. They are really two letter "C"s, one placed inside the other. The two Cs stand for Corfy's Corner, my website. The yellow background harkens back to my first website. I hated white pages, and so in an attempt to add color to my pages, I made most of them yellow. Big mistake, but I had to put a tribute to those days in my logo.
And that is the story behind my avatar. Probably more information than anyone wanted to know, but that is the joy of these forums. What is the story behind yours?

Due to my pathetic empty, simple and pointless life, I've no avator. Also, I've no signiture due to the lack of a personality.
Or I just prefer saying I didn't find anything cool.It is not enough 'I succeed'. Everyone else must fail.

Because it looks and grabs your attention.
Besides, every avatar of mine is a piece of the puzzle which will reveal the true identity of editman...Last edited by editman; 03-05-2004 at 06:16 AM.

Because the House always wins...and my mom says I'm cool.
"34 million American adults are obese. Putting together that excess blubber would fill the Grand Canyon two-fifths of the way up. That may not sound impressive, but keep in mind it is a very big canyon."

Yeah, Radstar, that looks like a shot from Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back when Luke is levitating Yoda but loses concentration, and Yoda falls. "Concentrate. ConcenTRATE!"

Garfield was created by Jim Davis. Jim Davis is a resident of Muncie, Indiana. Therefore, Editman is a resident of, if not Muncie, then at least the state of Indiana. His avatar also reveals that he likes to read the comics pages and is a cat person. He is also in love with Jennifer Love Hewitt, who is in the movie.
Or maybe I just have no idea what the heck I am talking about. But it was worth a shot.

Garfield's weight is 27 pounds. This is revealed in the 21 January 1986 strip, in a series of Ripley's parodies, when it says "A Jon Arbuckle claims to own a cat", which is Garfield, "who can eat 10 times its body weight. To verify this claim, we offered the cat 270 pounds of lasagna
i find it difficult to create an avatar, because it has to be recognizable although it's only 50x50 pixels big.
my current one is my left eye, pictured using my cell phone. imo it looks strange on that picture, but it's ok until the next avatar comes along
i prefer my older one featuring a scene from fell in love with a girl by the white stripes, but i got tired of it
