Bonhoeffer

(first run) Release Date: Director: Martin Doblmeier Cast: , , , Plot: This documentary tells the story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer (1906-1945), a young German theologian who became one of the first voices of resistance against Adolph Hitler during his rise to power, organizing the Confessing Church, Germany\'s only organized challenge to the Nazi regime. Bonhoeffer\'s path to resistance began with a fellowship in Harlem, New York City in the 1920s in which he gained a new appreciation of the evils of racial discrimination. Returning to Germany in 1932, he was the right man at the right time to stand up for the Jews as the rest of Germany became swept up in anti-Semitic propaganda. This is the story of a devout Christian who found himself in such a dire time that he even became involved with an assassination plot... against Hitler himself.
