Inserting Images

Is it me, or is there an issue with inserting images in posts ?
I noticed lately (including my own posts), that a lot of the images inserted, even though they get displayed while pre-viewing, will disapear afret submitting the post. Any other way, obviously apart from including an attachement, to embed images in a post ?

Are you using the

[img ] image source [/img ]

method?

And if so, please provide an example.

Hi JP,

Yes, I am using the IMG method, as an example you can check my post #13 here, there is suppose to be an image at the top, which showed up in the preview, but once posted this is what I see where the image is [X], checking the properties where the image ([X])shows the correct link, but it wont show on my PC.
Dont know if it's a setting problem on my end, or an actual problem as I dont have any other PC to double check with.
Actually, if you have an Email address I can send you a screen capture, I cant via ML as the file exceeds the attachement max.

Aha... this is likely happening because the site that hosts the picture blocks other sites from using it.
If you view it directly, or through their site first, it will work. (that's why it works when you preview it).
But other sites that link to it, don't work.
(it's done to stop bandwidth theft).
Best thing to do is attach it, and display it that way.

Thanks, that makes sense.
Apart from an attachement, which does not display until it is opened manually, are there any other ways to display images in the posts, let's say a saved image directly from my PC instead of using a URL ?

If you add it as an attachment, you can then include it in your message the same way you would normally using [img ]

Just right click the attached image to get the url.

Sounds strange... I have not checked recently, but I have never had that problem with neither Photobucket nor ImageShack.us...

What is the image uploader you are using?

Actually JP responded with the answer, see post #4, it seems that more and more sites are trying to save bandwith by limiting indirect access. IMDB among quite a few others are using this for their images.
