XP Antivirus 2008 Attacking IE Users !!
There is a new counterfeit antispyware attacking Internet Explorer users:

INFO HERE:
http://weblog.infoworld.com/security...w_popular.html
it looks like a Microsoft anti-virus program tricking computer users to install it
it pops up while you are browsing and it tries to install itself
if you get it, here are instructions on how to remove it:

I use Firefox 3.0 with No Script and This is what I got when it tried to install itself on my computer:
So I dodged a bullet!!

Yeah, I have been fighting that stupid thing here at work. So far, it has worked its way onto three computers.
To be honest, I think I have been able to get that cleaned off without too much problem, but an accompanying program that installs two .dll files in the System32/wsnpoem directory is harder to clean.
I've also been fighting braviax.

People clicking such messages is common... Remember that the computer-internet universes are vast a lots of persons have neither no time nor interest to be following all details around it.
On the internet cafés I have worked on, it was a very common thing to find such programs installed on the machines... I usually solved the problems with Ad-Aware and Spy-bot, search and destroy, but it was some years ago... I don't know exactly how the things have evolved around such internet threats lately... Unfortunately I'm working again on an internet café (still looking for a better job), and I said unfortunately because it means to be in contact again with all those problems...
Too bad I can't install Linux on those machines (due to the lack of support for games)...

I think any establishment that has a large number of computers either for employee use or public use should be running Firefox with No Script.
IE is too vulnerable and it sucks anyway!!
