Sexiest Movies Ever

As the leaves start to fall, so does the temperature, and there’s no better way to spice up a cold fall evening than by watching your favorite Hollywood stars engage in a bit of a sexy romp.
Last year, in honor of the release of the 50 Shades of Grey movie adaptation, we took a look at ten of the steamiest movies ever made. But the number ten doesn’t exhaust the number of hot and heavy films that will have your blood racing, so here’s a list of ten more. And you may be pleasantly surprised to see a certain dapper businessman and his shy mistress in this list.

10 – Crazy Stupid Love

In 2011, Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone were two of the hottest stars on the planet, and Crazy Stupid Love brought them together in a match made in heaven. Like the best romantic pairings, Stone and Gosling had an immediate and sizzling connection, which continued as a slow burn even as the fiery redhead’s repeatedly rejected the Hollywood hunk’s advances. The story centered around Gosling’s character, an unapologetic womanizer, giving dating advice to Steve Carell, whose character was a middle-aged divorcee.

When Emma Stone’s character finally gives in and passionately jumps Ryan Gosling’s bones after a passionate restaurant kiss, the audience collectively breathed a sigh of relief.

9 – Boogie Nights

This 1997 movie sealed Mark Wahlberg’s fate as a Hollywood leading man. In the starring role of up-and-coming porn star Dirk Diggler, Wahlberg rises, reigns, then crashes and burns in the equally glitzy and seedy California porn industry of the 1970s. With phenomenal and sexy performances by Julianne Moore and Heather Graham as top AV talent, Boogie Nights won accolades from critics who praised the actors’ performances and the brutally honest portrayal of life in the porn industry.

The most unforgettable and provocative scene witnessed Wahlberg’s Diggler and Moore’s Amber Waves filming one of the rising star’s first shoots. More than just sex, the two engage in a tender and passionate lovemaking scene, with Waves coaching the inexperienced Diggler through the nerve-wracking experience.

8 – Black Swan

Anyone who only remembered Natalie Portman from her Star Wars days, or Mila Kunis as the annoying Jackie from That 70s Show, was blown away by the volcanic force of their sensuality in this 2010 psychological thriller. A lot of the sex appeal in the movie stemmed from its dark themes, as Portman’s character Nina attempted to cope with personal failure as a ballerina by indulging in her own private sexual fantasies.

Things got even more risque when Nina and Lily, Kunis’ character, burst into Nina’s bedroom for a night of uninhibited passion. Although the jury’s still out on whether Lily was just a figment of Nina’s imagination, the consensus is that that scene singlehandedly made Black Swan one of the sexiest movies of that year.

7 – Titanic

A description almost feels like overkill for this massive 1997 blockbuster that propelled Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet to stardom. Fans love it to death, critics like Roger Ebert called it “spellbinding”, and legions of teenage girls still fantasize about DiCaprio’s Jack Dawson character. The classic story of poor boy meets rich girl, boy and girl fall in love, and boy loses girl, had a mystifying aura about it, being set within the tragic story of the doomed cruise ship.

Millions of people around the world remember the movie for one of two scenes: Jack and Kate Winslet’s Rose Calvert on the prow of the ship, and Jack and Rose intertwined in their birthday suits in the back seat of a car below deck. The iconic shot of Rose grasping at a steamy car window has been burned into the minds of impressionable women everywhere, and let’s face it – every single one of them would like a night alone with Jack.

6 – Cruel Intentions

Featuring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair at the peak of their early careers, Cruel Intentions set the bar for revenge thrillers for years, as well as how to film a teenage love scene. By the time Phillippe’s Sebastien and Witherspoon’s Annette consummate their love, over half the film’s running time has passed, and the audience has dug their nails so deep into the couch that the stuffing’s falling out.
The movie’s plot, about Gellar’s character seeking to tear apart the lives of everyone around her for her own private amusement, almost felt like an afterthought to what the filmmakers really wanted – an incredibly steamy scene between the hot Phillippe and the even hotter Witherspoon.

However, the incredibly seductive back-and-forth between Phillippe, Witherspoon, and Gellar was enough on its own to earn it a top spot on this list, as you could cut the sexual tension with a knife. But critics didn’t see it that way, calling it “bland” and “dull”. Legions of fans would disagree.

5 – Wild Things

Who could forget the scalding hot pool sex scene between Neve Campbell and Denise Richards in this ’90s thriller? Even more scintillating was the threesome between the two leading ladies and Matt Dillon’s character, as they celebrate the success of their convoluted fraud scheme. The rest of the movie, following the consequences of the initial fraud and a round of betrayals, can only be described as sickly sweet.

There’s enough backstabbing and carnal activity in Wild Things to satisfy even the most repressed libido, and Campbell, Richards, and Dillon really pull the viewer into their web of deceit, making this movie fun to watch even between the more fleshy bits.

4 – Dirty Dancing

If John Travolta proved that sinewy tough guys in tight black clothing could be sexy, Patrick Swayze showed that they could be all that, while having a heart of gold. Along with co-star Jennifer Grey, they crafted a compelling and sensual story. Although the scene where Grey’s character sneaks into Swayze’s room for a booty call is scintillating, their final dance together just may be the most alluring scene of the entire movie, as their bodies in motion really say everything that needs to be said about two individuals passionately in love.

Yet another entry in the poor boy gets rich girl schtick, Dirty Dancing nevertheless has inspired countless imitators, most of whom just haven’t managed to replicate Swayze and Grey’s natural on-screen chemistry.

3 – Lust, Caution

International audiences were treated to Chinese actress Tang Wei’s beautiful curves in this WWII-era thriller. Reprising one of cinema’s sexiest archetypes – the female spy – Wei lives a double life, spying for the anti-Japanese resistance while courting Tony Leung’s character, a pro-Japanese collaborator.

The image of Wei slyly batting her eyelashes and speaking in sultry tones to Leung’s character would be enough to send anyone over the edge, but if that weren’t enough, the movie features two graphic love scenes that caused almost a year’s worth of controversy. Many critics highly praised the movie, and it made several top 10 lists when it was released in 2007.

2 – The Notebook

If one of the images that comes to mind when someone says “Ryan Gosling” is him in the rain clad in a wet t-shirt, muscles bulging, then chances are The Notebook has had an effect on you. Along with co-star Rachel McAdams, Gosling takes the viewer on a two-hour odyssey of difficult love, punctuated by tender love scenes that are more impactful because of the underlying emotion.

There’s no danger, no darkness, and no evil in The Notebook. It’s a fairly benign romance. However, the longing the viewer sees in Gosling and McAdam’s eyes creates enough tension to last its two-hour runtime.

1 – 50 Shades of Grey

You knew it was coming, this sexy force of nature that’s taken the world by storm and led millions of housewives to start reading again. The young and naive Anastasia Steele, university English student, falls head over heels into a whirlwind romance with business magnate and sexual adventurer Christian Grey, and their tumultuous relationship spans multiple bedrooms and other improvised “love nests”.

But more than the physical dimension, the emotional and intellectual chemistry and tension between Steele and Grey provides the real fuel for the story. As Steele attempts to wean Grey off his wild ways, and Grey tries to show Steele the more carnal pleasures in life, the viewer is instinctively reminded of her own fantasies. Perhaps this quality is what’s made 50 Shades so popular – it allows its viewers to live vicariously, without any of the usual emotional baggage.

So if you find yourself stranded at home on a cold autumn night, pop one of these movies on the TV and prepare to warm up – doubly so if you have a partner handy.
