Hunger Games Prequel?

Word on the street is that a Hunger Games prequel could be on the cards, and after four big movie blockbusters who could blame the fans for wanting more? The success of the original Hunger Games movies; the Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay Part 1 and 2, is unquestionable after the films wowed audiences across the globe. But are we all really ready for Hunger Games – The Prequel? Would Jennifer Laurence even be reprising her unforgettable role as Katniss Everdeen? The answer is, probably not judging by this quote from the A-list actress, I think its too soon. Theyve got to let the body get cold, in my opinion. So it looks like it’s a no for now from Jen, but that doesn’t squash all hope, keep those fingers crossed. She said “too soon”; she didn’t say never. As for Josh Hutcherson, or as he’s known in Panem, Peeta Mellark, there’s been no word as to his thoughts on a Hunger Games prequel as of yet. So our favourite on screen duo could still be reunited.

So, what could we expect from a Hunger Games prequel? Well, we would definitely be hoping for something about the origin of the first ever Hunger Games. Considering the first game that we saw on the big screen was the 74th Annual Hunger Games, that’s a lot of missed Hunger Games. Yet surely it’d be impossible to have a prequel about the Hunger Games without looking at the beginning of the annual district battles. Also what about President Snow? Without a doubt fans would want to see his rise to power in Panem. Then there’s the First Rebellion; that’s a lot of information to pack into one film. Maybe we’ll be looking at Hunger Games the Prequel – Parts 1 and 2. Here’s hoping! The problem is, would fans be able to see all their favourite characters in a prequel; as the first ever Hunger Games was long before the times of Katniss, Peeta, Gale and Primrose. However, the last two films were not as well received by audiences as the Hunger Games and Catching Fire, so a prequel could give the writers a chance to refocus on the actual Hunger Games rather than the politics in Panem. Which, looking at the ratings, is what the fans want! So more tricks and turns from the Game Maker and more time spent on the actual games please.

So who will be keeping their fingers crossed for the Hunger Games prequel? I volunteer as tribute!
