Box Office: ‘Taken 3’ Scores Second-Highest January Opening Ever

The Taken franchise ended on a high note this weekend, as the third and final entry opened in first place with an excellent $40.4 million.

Civil rights drama Selma got off to a slow start, while Inherent Vice opened well below writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master.

The Top 12 earned an estimated $112.6 million this weekend, which is off eight percent from the same frame last year.

8-Episode Wet Hot American Summer Miniseries Confirmed for Netflix

After 14 years, the world will finally be a better place as Netflix is officially going ahead with the sequel series to WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER. To make things even better, the entire cast will be returning with filming beginning this week.

In case you aren’t familiar with WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER’s awesome cast, it includes Elizabeth Banks, H. Jon Benjamin, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Nina Hellman, Ken Marino, Zak Orth, David Hyde Pierce, Joe LoTruglio, Christopher Meloni, A.D. Miles, Marguerite Moreau, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Marisa Ryan, Molly Shannon, Michael Showalter and Kevin Sussman. Yeah, all of those actors are back for the sequel series. Michael Showalter and David Wain developed the Netflix series and Wain will direct.

 


 

‘iZombie’ Trailer & Images: ‘Veronica Mars’ with Zombies

After months of teases and lack of information, today, not only did The CW finally announce a premiere date for the highly anticipated iZombie from Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas (based on the Vertigo comic book of the same name), it also released the world’s first trailer.

As reported earlier, iZombie has been slated for a Tuesday, March 17th premiere where it will take over the current Supernatural timeslot.

Fox has released a new Last Man on Earth trailer for the upcoming series from Will Forte and The LEGO Movie/22 Jump Street/Clone High creators Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and it’s unsurprisingly great. Forte stars as the literal last man on earth, and as gleaned in this new promo, he does everything you’d probably want to do if you had that kind of freedom
