Casinos and Movies: Is the Genre in need of Modernizing?

Posted on July 5th, 2017

Some people who are familiar with casino films might all have the same question: casinos and movies: is the genre in need of modernizing? There is certainly a case to be made for this. This is an era where Hollywood is remaking everything. However, they do not necessarily update their source material. In some cases, they just reproduce it entirely. Seeing some genuine originality with casino movies would be a relief.

This is a world where people should not be surprised to find Top Gun 2, ready for take-off. Euro Palace Online Casino games could very easily be integrated into the plot of a much more original movie. However, it seems like a lot of people in Hollywood are not even paying attention to the genuine developments in online casino gaming.

For one thing, the majority of casino films use land-based casinos only. There are plenty of different ways to make online casinos cinematic. Rounders is one of the only casino films that really makes use of online casinos and online casino gambling, and this is a movie that came out in 1998. The line between land-based casinos and online casinos is actually starting to blur, but few people would ever recognize it from what they see in even the most ostensibly modern casino films.

The majority of modern casino movies, which are modern in the sense that they came out in the modern world, will typically seem like throwbacks to the 1960’s. In some cases, the films are actually set in the 1960’s. Even if this isn’t the case, there seems to be a mid-twentieth century feel to a lot of these films in terms of the fashion sense, the nature of the plot lines, and even many of the characters that people will tend to see.

Online gambling is very popular among women today. However, the majority of women in casino films are either dark seductresses or women who disapprove of the gambling habits of their husbands or boyfriends. The casino genre of movies tends to focus on wealthy white men, even though there are plenty of other people who like to play casino games. Most of the plot lines of these movies only indirectly involve gambling, even though gambling could certainly be the focal point of a casino movie.

A lot of casino movies will tend to focus on gambling problems, in fact, which seems like it is also outdated. Gambling is not a marginal pastime. This is something that a lot of people are able to do for fun completely responsibly. It makes sense that people would start to see a lot of movies that would reflect that. However, responsible gamblers are almost never able to see themselves onscreen, in spite of the fact that there are lots of them in many different countries all over the world.

People should see more diversity in the genre. One of these days, this might happen. As the culture changes and people look for fresh movie ideas, there might be some more original casino movies.
