CBS Officially Announces Who Will Play SUPERGIRL In Upcoming TV Series

Source: ComicBookMovie

CBS have confirmed that Whiplash star Melissa Benoist will play Supergirl in the upcoming TV series of the same name. Other credits include Homeland and The Good Wife, but like The Flash’s Grant Gustin, Benoist is pehaps best known for the popular singalong series Glee. In Supergirl, she will play Kara Zor-El, who escaped her home planet of Krypton amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she has concealed the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now, at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. A number of key roles still need to be cast. Thoughts on this latest small screen Supergirl?

Box Office: ‘Sniper’ Scores Stunning $64 Million in Second Weekend

Source: BoxOfficeMojo

Coming off a very surprising opening, American Sniper reinforced its status as a box office heavyweight by scoring one of the biggest second weekends ever.

With over $200 million in the bank already, Sniper is now on track to be the highest-grossing movie from 2014 (it opened in New York and Los Angeles on Christmas Day).

Among the new releases, Jennifer Lopez’s The Boy Next Door got off to a decent start, while Mortdecai and Strange Magic were dead on arrival.

Watch The Avengers Trailer Done In Zack Snyder’s Watchmen Style

Source: CinemaBlend

The mashup trailer, posted by The Unusual Suspect, features the Smashing Pumpkins track “The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning,” which you may recognize from the original Watchmen trailer from about half a decade ago (it seems so long ago). It’s weird seeing the Marvel characters moving to the beat of the DC film but entertaining none the less. If the intention was for me to go back and re-watch the trailers for both Watchmen and The Avengers, then goal achieved!

Fifty Shades Of Grey Music Video Is Way More NSFW Than You Imagined

Source: CinemaBlend

Everything about the Fifty Shades of Grey movie screams NSFW. It’s adapted from a booked based on saucy Twilight fan fiction, and it features a billionaire looking for someone to love his BDSM fetish as much as he does. So was there any doubt that the first music video for one of the film’s songs would be provocative? Watch below:

Dreamworks Animation Closes PDI Studio, Cuts 500 Jobs

Source: /Film

The animation world was rocked this week as Dreamworks Animation closed its PDI Studio in northern California. The closure comes as part of an expected round of Dreamworks Animation layoffs, but the 500 jobs that were cut this week far exceeded expectations, and the closure of the studio had not been predicted at all. Along with these layoffs comes a significant reduction in production, as the company’s planned three film per year output will now back off to only two films: one original per year, and one sequel.

Along with this closure comes another push for the How to Train Your Dragon 3 release date — the film will now arrive in 2018.

Dreamworks Animation announced that the studio closure is effective immediately, and that some artists are being offered the chance to relocate to the remaining Dreamworks Animation facility in Glendale, CA.

The remaining slate for the company looks like this:

Home (March 27, 2015)
Kung Fu Panda 3 (March 18, 2016)
Trolls (Nov. 4, 2016)
Boss Baby (Jan. 13, 2017)
The Croods 2 (Dec. 22, 2017)
Larrikins (Feb. 16, 2018)
How to Train Your Dragon 3 (June 29, 2018)

Boys Batman Wish

Julia Roberts to Produce & Star in ‘Batkid Begins’ Movie

Source: ScreenRant

In 2013, the city of San Francisco transformed into Gotham for just one day to fulfill the wish of Miles Scott, a 5-year-old diagnosed with leukemia, to be Batman. The Make-A-Wish event for Miles a.k.a. Batkid attracted 25,000 supporters within the city and became a worldwide phenomenon as 2 billion people followed his adventures online through sites like Mashable, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Submarine Entertainment announced that Julia Roberts is attached to produce and star in a retelling of Batkid Begins. She will be joined behind the scenes by her producing partners at Red Om Films, Lisa Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill (Kit Kittredge: An American Girl). Nachman will also executive produce the Batkid Begins remake.

The premise of an entire city – with help from the President of the United States – transforming into a fictional metropolis full of heroes and villains will be compelling to many moviegoers. The recent and massive popularity of superhero films may show that even a movie superficially about comic book characters (and more about non-superpowered heroes) can appeal to a substantial audience.

First trailer for Tina Fey’s Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

Source: JoBlo

Netflix has released the first trailer for its new comedy series, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I’ve been looking forward to a look at the project since it was announced as I am a big fan of its creator Tina Fey and the folks behind 30 Rock. The show features Ellie Kemper as Kimmy, who escapes a doomsday cult and decides to reclaim her life and start over in New York City.

Watch the first trailer and tell us what you think!

Star Wars Vs DC/Marvel Fan-Made Trailer

Source: /Film

Youtube user “Alex Luthor” has created a trailer imagining a movie where the Star Wars universe collides with the comic book galaxies of DC Comics and Marvel Studios. Emperor Palpatine and his Sith Apprentice Darth Vader have traveled galaxies to reach our planet (surely using a wormhole to travel into our “future” timeline). The superheroes of the DC and Marvel universe must team-up to protect our planet against the dark side.
